2026-2027 Residential License Agreement
Please read this document carefully before executing. College housing is offered under the terms and conditions stated herein.
1. LICENSE PERIOD. THIS RESIDENTIAL LICENSE AGREEMENT (the “Agreement”) IS FOR THE FULL ACADEMIC YEAR. The license will be effective the earlier of: 1) your designated check-in date, 2) the date you move into college housing (the “Residence”), or 3) Monday, August 17, 2026. The License Period (defined below) will end on Tuesday, May 11, 2027, unless terminated earlier in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. You may be referred to herein as “you,” “Resident,” or “student.”
Check-in dates vary for new and returning students. Once available, students will be notified of the check-in dates. By completing the online housing process, paying the housing deposit, and electronically signing this Agreement, the Resident agrees to pay for the whole Agreement period beginning on the check-in date and ending on the check-out date (the “License Period”) (See Housing Room Rates).
2. ELIGIBILITY. Housing is available during the academic year for full-time, registered undergraduate students at Prescott College who are under the age of 25. The Resident must remain a full-time registered student in good standing throughout the License Period, or the College will have the right to terminate this Agreement at its sole discretion.
Residents in fall-term housing must be registered for Spring-term classes by December 11, 2026, to retain their assigned Residence. If a Resident fails to register for the Spring term by December 11, 2026, the Resident must vacate their assigned Residence. Upon Spring term registration, the Resident shall be re-assigned to a new Residence and charged accordingly for Spring housing costs.
3. MEAL PLAN REQUIREMENT. All incoming students (first-year and transfer students) residing in campus housing are required to participate in the College's meal plan program. These students must enroll in a meal plan with a minimum value of $400 per semester for the entire academic year. Failure to select a meal plan will result in automatic enrollment in the basic $400 plan, with charges applied directly to the student's account. The meal plan requirement remains in effect regardless of room assignment or residential facility.
4. FEES AND PAYMENTS. (a) Housing Deposit: All students must pay a $250.00 deposit when the Residential License Agreement is executed. Please note that scholarships, grants, and financial aid cannot be applied to deposits. APPLICATIONS FOR HOUSING CANNOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT A DEPOSIT. The College will hold deposits for the entire license period. Upon completion of the license period, the full deposit amount will be credited to your account, less any damages or charges assessed during occupancy. Should they exist, the deposit balance will be applied toward outstanding college debts. (b) Payment Schedule: Housing fees are to be paid in two (2) installments: one in the Fall and one in the Spring semester. The Office of Student Accounts designates due dates for Fall and Spring semester housing payments in conjunction with its tuition and fees billing cycle. (c) Consequences of Non-Payment: The following College guidelines apply to a Resident who fails to pay fees when due: (i) a Financial hold will be placed on the Resident's college account that will block future registration; (ii) the College will not release transcripts or diplomas to or for a Resident; (iii) a late penalty charge of $220 on past due balances will be incurred each semester. THE DEPOSIT IS FORFEITED IN ALL CASES OF NON-PAYMENT OR CONTRACT VIOLATIONS.
5. CANCELLATION OF AGREEMENT. This contract may be terminated only as provided in the Community Handbook. Once this contract is terminated, the Student forfeits all rights to the assigned room for the remainder of the contract term, even if the Student intends to return the following semester.
6. REGULATIONS. The Resident agrees to review and abide by all the policies and regulations of the College and Office of Housing & Residence Life that are, or shall become, effective during the License Period. These policies and regulations are included in the Community Handbook and other publications distributed by the College. If the Resident violates any such policy or regulation, the Resident will be subject to disciplinary action and/or termination of this Agreement without refund by the College, in its sole discretion.
7. DAMAGES. Residents are responsible for the general condition of the assigned room, including damage, defacement, and general order. The Resident shall reimburse the College for all damages and expenses which the College may suffer or incur for the repair of the Resident’s room or facilities of the building or repair or replacement of College-provided furniture caused by the Resident’s misconduct or neglect, or by the misconduct or neglect of guests of the Resident. Damages will be assessed in accordance with the policies outlined in the Community Handbook.
8. LIABILITY. The College is not liable for any person's loss of money or valuables, nor the loss or damage to any Resident's property. In the event of damage by fire, water, steam, or other causes, which render an assigned room unfit for occupancy, the College reserves the right to reassign the Resident to alternate student housing. If such alternate housing is unavailable or a Resident rejects the offer of such alternate housing, the College may cancel this Agreement. The College shall not be liable for any damage from such events.
9. INDEMNIFICATION. The Resident will indemnify and hold harmless the College against all claims and damages caused by the acts or omissions of the Resident and the Resident’s guests.
10. COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS. Residents are subject to all federal, state, and local laws. No unlawful conduct shall be carried on or permitted in the rooms or facilities of the Residence.
